Once I found a professor had not read my work and gave me a C. I told her I would go to the Dean if she did not read my work and give me the grade I deserved. I got my A but had problems with some other teachers in the department after that.

C to B I can understand, but C to A is ridiculously hard to get unless you find a grading error on your exam or can blackmail your professor with pictures of him/her with their mistress!

Take your course seriously and apply yourself more. A professor doesn't give grades you don't earn yourself.
So it is up to you to change the work you are turning in.

You want a professor to GIVE you an "A". In my classroom it doesn't work. Students EARN the grades they get.

Go and talk to him and ask what extra work could you do to improve your grade. You didn't say what class so the ideas might not be valid for your course.
