Professional athletes shouldn't be crybabies. They shouldn't expect some kind of "mercy rule" that might be appropriate for elementary school children. They should expect their opponents to play hard for the entire game. If your team is up by a lopsided score, you might want to rest your starters and play guys from your bench, but there's no reason to stop playing all-out. Go for the short yardage on a fourth down. Bunt and steal bases. If the losing team whines about it, they don't belong in the major leagues.

It's just sour grapes, they're sore, because they didn't win, and couldn't do anything to stop their opponent from scoring...
There's no such thing as "running up the score" in professional sports. Those athletes are highly paid, to win games, if they can't stop the offense, then they just need to take their loss, like an adult, and stop whining....

no. i'm a huge Texas Ranger's fan and when we beat the Orioles 30-3 this past season you didn't hear any of the Orioles players saying that the Ranger's disrespected them

unlike in other sports, when a team is far enough ahead, they can switch to ball control offense, and run out the clock, ending the game. I mean, they've already proven themselves far superior, so what would be the point in scoring so many more points?

Yes, basketball teams empty their benches. There isn't much you can do in baseball.

I agree that there is no reason to humiliate an opponent, which is exactly what the Pats have been doing this year. Not only that but it is actually not strategic to play your starters in the fourth quarter when you don't need to play them. The Pats are risking injury at key positions because their own ********* and need to prove themselves dominate. It's repulsive.

When you are up by 20 points you dont go for the 4th downs. you punt it away. That is just wrong. You should never run up the score.
