I suggest a stuffed bear or something bright, like a toy he can hold and play with, since he should be starting to grab things I guess. Or warm little socks.

At only four months, I wouldn't worry too much about the perfect gift. But if you insist, take the money and start a bank acct. for him. College is very expensive.

I started reading a lot to my daughter around that age. I'd suggest some bright, colorful books. She was fascinated by the pictures.

best gifts at that age is clothes, my son was 6mths last xmas and still aint interested in half the toys he got from family so clothes best for this young age, next year toys will be better.

a child that age loves everything. if it lights up, plays music, has different textures, the kid is gonna love it.
i just saw where somebody said jumperoo. i highly recommend that. it was my sons favorite thing when he was that age.
