I'm trying to meet some cool local people on my next trip in 2 weeks, but I don't know where the locals go to hang out (I'm from LA). I put down Starbucks and one of the malls there as a possibility, any other ideas/suggestions?

There are actually local casinos, meaning not Downtown or on The Strip. These casinos are South Point, Gold Coast, and Orleans where locals enjoy bowling and/or movies. There is to the north on US95 (just off I15) The Cannery with a movie theatre and a great buffet.

Vegas has a regular city with ice skating, museums, libraries, etc. Go to www.lasvegas.com and/or www.vegas.com for information.

Most locals do not go to the mall (Fashion Show) on The Strip. They go to Boulevard Mall, Meadows Mall, the Discount Mall Downtown, etc. There is the Test Site Museum on W Tropicana, the new Springs Preserve off US95 near Arville, and Natural History Museum at UNLV; all locals use.

Hope that helps.

Bowling alleys. It's mostly locals that go there. Most of the Stations Casinos have alleys and that's where the locals go. You can also go to the smaller casinos on the outskirts like Skyline in Henderson. There are so many small casinos, just drive around and you will find them.

The Pinball Museum on Tropicana.

Also if you are there on the first friday of the month, check out the fesival in the arts district.

Also a little place called Olives has a great poetry reading.
