If this is your passion and you love doing it, then I don't think that it is a waste of ink. It is probably because they don't have as much interest as you in art. That's ok you can become an artist someday and make millions of dollars. Then they will appreciate your works of art.

The fact that your even asking this question tells me your not "self-centered" enough to SURVIVE as an artist. I am a 50 year old cabinet builder who has been a semi-pro artist and musician since the second grade of school. The reason I say this is nearly ALL sucessful artists and musicians are very "tunnel-vision" types. Their relationships seldom last, substance abuse runs rampant (and always has through history). I love to draw, paint, and play music as much as anybody I guess, but I have been married for 31 years, and have raised 3 sons. When I was younger I could only think of companionship. It really was the most important thing to me. Study all of the greatest artists through history. Loners. Only care about the art. Only their music. This is what has to come first. Is this really you? I doubt it. But it's O.K. Being an artist means so much more than making money. Enjoy you talent, use it for everything you can. And enjoy the fact that the artist is the only one that really SEES.

What ever you do, do not give up your passion of photography. You should continue to follow what you love. Your parents reactions may have been due to timing. Maybe they had a bad day at work or were just tired. Are they generally supportive? Have you talked to them about how much you love photography? Maybe by doing so they will see how you are into it and be supportive. Try asking for a photo printer for Christmas and buy your own ink if you can. But no matter what you should not give it up. Why don't you frame it and hang it up somewhere in the house? If no where else in your bedroom.

they just don't see things in the same way that you do. I know what you mean because my dad used to do it to me ever time I drew something.
Now instead of them framing it, why don't you do it? maybe go to a second hand shop and look at their frames sometimes you will find real beauty's that are cheap. And put them in your room, fill your room with all your fav photos that you took. It shows that even if you parents don't like it that you do and that's all that matters.
But if you really want someone artistic to look at a good point is go to your art teacher. :)
Hoped that helped.
It sounds beautiful btw the photos i mean.

You're right. They may just not be artistic.

Ask for a digital photo frame for a holiday or future gift. Then you wont need to use ink to display your artwork!

Stick with it, sounds like you love it.

Also you appear to be on a computer. If its your own, change your screen saver to show your artwork. Go to the control panel -> appearance and themes -> choose a screen saver -> then pick "my Picture Slide Show"

Also keep your work in the My Documents -> My Pictures dir.

Plus learning to integrate art with technology will be a great career choice.

Artists are a dime a dozen immediately. I easily have a skills besides and my mothers and dads easily pushed me to pursue a occupation at it, yet stunning out of high school I traded the pen for the sword. nicely... extra like the paintbrush for an M16 yet you get the photograph. final analysis is which you will no longer make it by totally consistent with an inventive occupation. this is not any longer even that the sphere is aggressive, this is that the sphere is barren. we don't stay in a society the place human beings celebrate with that stuff, they care extra approximately Jersey Shore and going to the golf equipment. the only field you are able to truly make it in is the clever arts field. especially now in a recession. Liberal Arts is going to be the 1st component to bypass with the aid of fact this is not any longer something needed. mothers and dads continually choose what's terrific for his or her toddlers, in the event that they thought there became even a reasonable threat of their new child making it, they might say choose for it yet we don't stay in a "thankfully ever after" international.

No, don't give up. Not everyone sees things the way you do and you need to gain confidence in your own vision rather than seeking the approval of others. Ultimately, the value of art is in helping other people to see something in a way they never saw it before. Until an artist is centred, however, she/he will never really be able to do that consistently.

All artists must believe in themselves to start with and only then recognise that others believe in them too.

i think it's probably a mix of both. you apriciate the pictures more because you spent so much time on them, they're your creations, and you're looking at them in an artistic way. but i think if they were really amazing pictures your parents would want them hung up...but ask around. don't say you did the pictures just show them to people and be like "hey what do you think of this?" and see they're reaction.

No 'artist' gives up. Don't take what your parents say as a final decision, what matters is what YOU think of it. If you like it',it's valid!

Keep doing what you love doing. WE ourselves make the decisions we want to, not others.
