well Baba is a Hindi word for father. but in many Indian cultures it is also used to denote affection for an older male. this has tradition as seeped into the surrounding areas such as Afghanistan. some of the other words in the book are taken from the many dialects spoken in modern English such as Pushtu, but also Persian the writer's native tongue.
