When this happens the last person to touch the puck on the scoring team gets credit for the goal and that player was Billy Smith, the Islanders goalie, thus becoming the first NHL goalie to score a goal.

The next goalie to score was Ron Hextall when on December 08, 1987 he shot the puck down the ice into an empty net becoming the first goalie to shoot the puck into the net for a goal.

Ron Hextall scored again on April 11, 1989 becoming the first goalie to score twice and the first goalie to score in a playoff game.

It is difficult to answer the second question without knowing within how many years or seasons but: George Hainsworth, The canadien goaltender recorded 22 shutouts.

And I can't answer the last question

1) Wiliiam Smith, for the Islanders, vs the Colorado Rockies, after Robert Ramage (who should be rotting in jail) passed the puck down the ice into his own net.

2) George Hainsworth has the most shutouts in a season with 22
Terrance Sawchuk has the most shutouts in a career with 103

3) Paul Coffey holds the record for most power-play goals by a defenceman with 117
Sheldon Souray is a LONG way behind.

Haley.....he said 'in history', this means career, not season

#3: I think you meant by a defenseman for a season:

Denis Potvin & Adrian Aucoin (shared the record) before Souray

LITY: I know, I was just trying to help correct the question.
