Almost all Americans support our troops. That's why we want them home alive and with all limbs and their brains intact.

Yes, thanking our troops is patriotic. As is supporting our troops efforts. None of us will probably ever know or understand fully why our troops are there. However, the bottom line is a safe and free America. So not only do I thank our troops; I support their effort fully.

The political question is when they will come home: Will it be a pull out before the job is done or will we stay there until we accomplish what we set out to do?

I hope our next president will allow these troops to come home heroes. I don't think America could stand another Vietnam.

It depends when Bush or Cheney only doit in front of the cameras and press then it is political. When the only time you hear of politicians thanking troops is when the camera or press is there yes it is political. When you stop and give a soldier a ride and say thank you for your service it is patriotic. When you volunteer your time at the VA medical center to help a veteran yes that is patriotic.

Political?
whats that?

Well I think it's a good thing to thank our troops, not matter if it is political or patriotic, its personal.

They are fighting for everyone in the US to be free, they deserve to be thanken.

Yes, it is a necessary patriotic act regardless of one's personal views on the factors surrounding the war.

These men did not create the situation, have been putting their very lives on the line for us and we have only to seat back and send words, gifts of appreciation.

Pretty simple, really.

Not when it is being done to further a political point of view. What that amounts to is bloody hands. And that is the same thing as those that are in this war for the money. Using the blood of our nations military is not the way to further an agenda - that is sickening!

"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
