I am pretty low on money. My daughter really wants a Christmas tree but I'm not sure I can afford it? Do you think it's okay to go one year without one?

One time time, I was in the same situation. Daughter wanted a tree, Daddy wanted a tree, wallet said "NO!" What we ended up doing was driving out to a "Tree Farm". I explained to the man that ran the place what was going on and asked if he had one that was "less than delightful" that I might be able to grab for $5. (that was all I had after getting gas.) He came across one that wasn't real pretty, but was green. Think Charlie Brown.

Well, we took it, thanked him profusely, and when we got home, we baked a bunch of shortbread cookies cut with Christmassy shapes. (butter, flour, and sugar, EASY!) Then we made icing with all different colors, iced them, ran string through them and hung them on the tree. No lights, no garland, none of that.

Each day she was allowed to eat one "Decoration" until Christmas.

My daughter was 3 then, and if you ask her now, that is the only tree that she says she vividly remembers. (She's 18 now)

Things will work themselves out, believe that, but after that Christmas, I truly believe that there has to be a tree.

Whether you have kids or not.

Save up and ask some family to help you with your Christmas gift early and buy a fake tree. We have it every year and don't have to worry about buying a tree. Otherwise, go to the Christmas Tree lot and bargain for a cute small tree with the people. If they like you, you might get a good deal. Good luck!

If you can't afford it, it's perfectly understandable. Your money needs to go elsewhere. Have your daughter paint a Christmas tree on some paper and hang it on a wall. Or you can also buy those small little ones, they run about $20 or less at places like Wal-Mart but still, if you can't afford it don't worry about it.

Are you wanting a real one or a fake one. Please, never go without a tree if you have a child,Please? You can get a fake one usually at dollar stores for ten dollars or larger ones for twenty dollars. If you want a real one,try something different.Get a pine tree, something small, and decorate the heck out of it ,or one year I put lights up on the wall in the shape of a Christmas tree and hung decorations on that.also one time I broke off a small thorn bush and sprayed it with white snow and when it dried, carefully hund decorations on it.Put it in a can of dirt and cover the base with something festive.Just use your imagination.Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Just buy a small fake one. You'll have it for years to come, its easy to clean up, and a tree is a tree.

Good Luck.

Either way it is okay if you don't have a tree, she will understand, if not today someday. I'm sure you are an amazing mother so don't let this get you down.

Well, if it's a fake one, it will last a long time if it's okay quality. :) I love our Christmas tree and we've used it for years. I'm sure it won't make a big difference without a tree but you will have to assign a different place for presents...You can also get a smaller tree for less.

I love Christmas trees but I myself had to go without for a few years......Maybe you could explain to her the situation. If you really cannot afford one I would not go out and get one. It may be hard for your daughter to understand it right now but someday she will.

i dont think they r a waste. some people reccomend fake trees but how many people really can afford to pay 200 dollars up front for a stupid tree. i would rather pay 30 dollars for a douglas fir. those r relatively cheap. and if u only have about 10 or 20 dollars to spare, u can get one of thos really little 1 foot tall trees to set on the coffee table and the little mini ornaments i bought one for my room and it was about 10 bucks for the tree, ornaments, and tree toppers

More than answer:

1- wast of trees not just money

2- its a tradition...and no Xmas feels without it especially for kids

3- buy a plastic one..and keep saving it for other years.( pay ones ..Use many! )

4- if u cannot buy even the fake one... try to company with your neighbors or family and tell your kid that this tree( the neighbors or one of your family parts..) is for us and them!

5-don't have all of this ...try to make your kid create it ...with the newspapers papers or with small sticks ..etc etc and color it( create your own tree)

6- try to draw it on a paper OR on the computer with photo-shop or paintbrush programs.

7-ask the store if you can borrow the tree for one day ...for a less payments!!

...@ the end its mean more for kids than adults.
