I AM ASSUMING THIS IS IN BASE 10 .. if not do it with any other base you intended it to be (the same way will work)

this is how i did it
log6(5x+8) = 4
in base 10
therefore
10^4 = 6(5x+8)
(10^4)/6 = 5x + 8
((10000/6)-8)/5 = x
x = 331.73 approx

I'm going to assume that's the base 6 logarithm of (5x + 8). Correct me if I'm wrong.

First convert to exponential form, then solve for x:
5x + 8 = 6^4
5x + 8 = 1296
5x = 1288
x = 1288/5

Hope this helps.

Hey there!

Here's the answer.

log(base 6)(5x+8)=4 --> Write the problem.
6^log(base 6)(5x+8)=6^4 --> Change the base of each equation into 6.
5x+8=6^4 --> On the left side of the equation, use the formula b^log(base b)(x)=x.
5x+8=1296 --> Substitute 1296 for 6^4.
5x=1288 --> Subtract 8 on both sides of the equation.
x=257.6 Divide 5 on both sides of the equation.

So the answer is x=257.6.

Hope it helps!

Try to remember what a log actually means. If you see log to the base a of b = c, what that means is that the base a, when raised to the power c = b,

i.e. a^c = b

In your problem, you have log_6 (5x + 8) = 4

That means 6^4 = (5x + 8)

1296 = 5x + 8

Just solve for x.

thath notation states that 6^4 = 5x + 8
so (1296 - 8)/5 = x
i got 257.6
