What I dont understand is how my friend around the same weight as me has naturaly been able to lift so much more weight than me, I dont get it he lifts up to 60k weight and theres me strugeling on 20k. I remember when we were young I had to find someone to carry this massive fire with me I asked him to help and he single handedly carried the fire making it look easy. Is it true that genes are what controlls strength? Are there any diet changes I could make to get stronger? I dont belive that working with weights makes your stronger as I'v been stuck on the same weights for ages and unable to move up.

What you eat and how you go about it make a huge difference. Your genes do effect your abilities to grow your body. It is possible your friend is using steroids and for you to try to compare you body to his and keep up with him will be more harmful to you in the long run. You focus on your own abilities and that will work for you. make sure that you are performing your techniques correctly and that you are also giving your muscles time to heal after each workout, which takes a few days. Besides are you working toward bulk or strength? The exercises and routines are different.

hmmm. and yes Lifting weights does incerase muscle. Maybe your not getting enough protein? I dont recommed the diets because in some cases they can leave you worse off.
