My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee was givng me problems, jerking at stop lights and then when the light turned green my car would have no acceleration and almost shut off. I took it to Meineke and they replaced the fuel filter, but the problem still persisted so I took it back. Then we got a fuel induction service ( I think that's what it's called) and they cleaned out my system. It was running better, but after I drove it for an hour it started to lose acceleration, but it didn't jerk this time. The check engine light came back on. The first time the code pointed to a fuel problem. Do I need to go back and get it cleaned more? Or is it something else? HELP!!!

Like Mikey and frank f have said. You didn't get the whole story. There is NO WAY the police or anyone but the owner of the car is going to have to pay for damages and like stated here is why. If spikes are used on a vehicle, it was most likely in a pursuit. This means that the driver is breaking the law for not pulling over. (Even if it was the wrong car) At this point the driver is going to be arrested and is committing a crime. The police use spike strips to stop the vehicle, and driver is arrested. Any damage to the vehicle that is caused is the responsibility of the driver or owner at this point.

yup i would say a fuel filter but if they cleaned your fuel system then they prob took care of that so my second opinion is maby a blown head gasket but its not a sports car so you would really have to be haulin butt around town to do that also check the spark plugs if there wet and oily then you got probs

sounds like a weak fuel pump. Go to a different shop and have the vehicle looked at.

check your ignition (spark plug)wires as they can have open spots that shot out from time to time that will give you the jerking sesations, best time to check is at dark as you can actually see the ark from the wires to ground it can look like a light show, if so change your spark plug wires

If the engine is not running right, then take it back. You may have another code that has come up.

good luck.
