RAID is only for harddrives and it allows for a way to lessen the chance of data loss.

RAID 0 and 1 are common options for desktops

RAID 0 provides what's called striping.. so they would write into Harddrive 1, and then continue into Harddrive 2 and back onto Harddrive 1 and so forth.

Raid 1 mirrors everything from Harddrive 1 to Harddrive 2, like a backup.

RAID .. Redundant Array of Independant Discs.

You will not need to use RAID.

You dont have enough Hard Drives to bother using it. Or for that matter .. enough experience.

Your motherboard will have the necsessary connectors on it. Just plug them all in to there slots in the correct order as shown in ur manual.

When your in BIOS disable the sata 2 drives or else they wont be recognised when you come to making your windows see it.

If you dont disable the Sata2, you will be using RAID for that drive. YOU dont want that ok!

trust me.. ive just finished building my first pc also. And i had the same issue. but i had to learn without the aid of yahoo answers as i did not have any other form of contact to internet.

so i learnt the harder way.

In a nut shell. If you want to make a back up from one hard drive to another... then use RAID. if you have only one hard drive then dont use RAID. and make sure u disable it in BIOS / setup. (or periphirals?)
