It's supposed to be really bad, well, the 1st movie isn't supposed to be the worst. But the guy who made it,(the books), this was supposed to be his reponse to The Lion, The witch, and The wardrobe. When you watch the trailers for the golden compass it looks kinda like the same story line as the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. The Girl is supposed to be 12 I think, and she does inapporite things(so I've heard). It's really more the books than the movies, because in the last book of the golden compass the main charcter kills god. The books are really bad, and the movies are supposed to be still bad too. That's really the whole reason why. Sorry if this is really long, just trying to give ya some info!
Oh...if you haven't figured it out already...this guy made it against religon too.

The magesterium represents the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church. In the movies they are portrayed in military garb, so the connection isn't so obvious. In the book they wear robes. The magesterium is evil, ergo what it represents is evil.
I can't wait to see it!

Because those who are closed minded and religious cannot stand to have a movie out there that explores an atheist mindset.
Heaven forbid someone disagree with them.

The writer is an atheist and they say the movie has atheist themes. Haven't seen the movie so I can't judge (probably won't see it either, not my type of movie).

what i heard was that the dude who created it doesnt believe in god and a the end they like trtyy to kill god. thats what i heard
