Some people like the idea of communism because they are stupid. Communism breeds lack of effort, as it does not reward excellence. Under communism, you get paid for 8 hours a day...even if you work for 10 hours. You get paid to meet your quota...even if you exceed it. As such, under communism, no one tries harder, no one excells, and everyone just barely meets quotas. Then, everyone slips a bit and just barely fails to meet quotas...so the quotas are lowered rather than have the managers admit failure and take blame for it. As such, industry crumbles under communism. Soviet subs rusted to pieces because no one would make the effort to maintain them. Every place which has tried communism has become a third world nation...or worse. Only the top 10% of people in communist nations like being communist...because they live like rich capitalists and have the power to murder all opponents. The average person who lives under communism hates it...which is why most places which were once communist no longer are communist. Even those places which still pay lip service to communism-such as Cuba, and China-are moving away from communism and becoming more, and more, capitalistic.

The vast majority of people are not interested in Communism, but the extreme right likes to use the accusation as a bullying device to try to win an argument when they no longer have a rational point to make.

They like it because they don't like the exploitative nature of Capitalism and they also believe man needs someone to restrict greed. I for one am a strict capitalist for our time period but I think in a couple of centuries when we the capital has spread worldwide and technology is also spread to all. The world also needs to have a situation where economic growth is no longer feasible and a system of class warfare that starts to devolve into slavery. That is what the communist idea is all about and frankly it doesn't work right now and it wont for hundreds of years when all of those things play out. But yeah people need to realize that for right now its not the answer, its like how the ancient Romans knew about steam and had capability of making steam engine but their system of slavery was profitable enough for them. For us capitalism is still too profitable for us and we don't have industry and technology diffused across the world enough for communism to work. No true communist state has developed yet that adheres Marx's requirement so all of these failed socialist states are not communist. Its like calling the USA & China pure capitalistic states when its not really true.

The weak that need to be led. If they are not careful they will be led to slaughter. The need to be controlled. I guess thats why some mistresses have a following. Some just love to be beaten down. They love others making their decisions for them.
I personally would rather take care of myself. Prosper through hard work to obtain ownership, self-reliance and pride. It is difficult to understand why some would want to be owned by a government.

People like communism because they want a "classless, stateless social organization based on common ownership of the means of production." And that's not necessarily a bad idea. I'm an anarchist myself though.

Some get tired of capitalism, or national pride for those in communist countries.
Keep in mind that communism started in a different time than now. At that time, many large companies were their own dictatorships.

Communism is about sharing and helping each other. Capitalism is about selfishnesses and greed.
I choose to live in a Capitalism society because I am used to it and getting by but I can see why people may like the latter.

Because they are full of envy. They covet that which they have not earned, and seek to gain wealth from the labors of others.

Because people are equal --- they don't starve --- you get paid a decent wage no matter what you do. There's a lot more to it. But we don't ever want to be under a communist rule becuase then the government also "owns" you and you can lose certain freedoms. But there are some good tihngs that do help people.
