Yes, and Im not (yet) an American.
1) I am a Traditionalist. This means I believe in traditional values of respect for American institutions like the President/Congress, Faith in God as a protector of our country, our Democratic system og government, and the Capitalist system that has given America the greatest properity in history to almost all Americans.
2) I work for a living
3) English should be our common language binding our country together, not a polyglot of English here, Spanish there, and Chinese somewhere else (my language born with)
I learned English at college in China BEFORE I got here so I could work and fit in with America. Most "immigarnts" don't and wont fit in or succeed.
4) I love my freedoms and the country that gave them to me!
(try growing up in a communist dictatorship and YOU WILL see what I mean)
5) I worked hard and got an education at UC Berkeley w/ honors. An informed citizen is a good citizen, which I will be soon.

I really like what SPEAK,douglas l, and CONSERVA had to say. I would add that, for myself, being a "good American" also means constantly questioning our elected officials as well as the status quo. Also, as Speak brought up, I feel Americans need to get back in touch w/ what the founders of our constitution intended. For instance complete separation of church and state.I'm a "deist" just like John Hancock, and Thomas Jefferson. Which means we have no religion, but do believe in a creator. These men were not Christians, and thanks to our beautiful constitution are not required to be. One final thought, I feel that being as active as possible in local, regional and national politics is imperative to being a "good American". If you personally don't involve yourself in government "for and by the people" then be prepared for the erosion of your constitutional rights. We're witnessing one such erosion right now, it's called "The Patriot Act".....so much for privacy on our phones or the internet. Just a reminder.PEACE.

yes

I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
. I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least
I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.

As a kid, I volunteered at the local ambulance service. As a young adult, I enlisted in the military and served twenty years. Now, I am a small business owner and employ those around me. I teach young boys to be self-sufficient and not to rely on the good graces of others and to not rely on government hand outs. Yep! I'd say, I'm a pretty good American.

This is a great question! I wish I had a better answer.

I go to work, pay my taxes, obey the law, and try to do good works in the community.

I support the troops in word and deed.

I try to remain educated and involved in how my country is run.

I try to explain my country to others - on this board, among other places.

I love my country and am trying to leave it better off than I found it.

Each of us does his or her small part.

Yes. I want our country to be strong and respected around the world. Unfortunately too many people these days equate respect with fear. I want us to always strive for the moral high ground and to lead by example, as opposed to using the military to impose our will on others.
