Because it suits our government to create as large and scary an enemy as possible. Keep the citizens afraid and they will be easily controlled.
The Sunni's are getting less press these days because many Sunni areas/tribes/groups are currently aligning with the US to fight Al Qaeda and other terrorists. Thus, criticism of them is kept to a minimum by the US military and Govt. Prior to those alignments the Sunni's were blamed for much, if not most, of the violence in Iraq.
The Shia, despite Iraq's leader being one, are not held in such high favor currently because they are supported by Iran, which the Bush administration has chosen to be the newest "SCARY ENEMY."

We don't attack all Muslims...we have Mosques operating peacefully within our homeland...geez. The Sunni's are the Insurgents fighting to keep the Saddam Hussein era status quo. The Shiites were his stomping ground...he kept them in such poverty while the Sunni's had a middle class lifestyle. With Saddam gone, the Shiites, the majority, will more than likely gain political power over the Sunni's in a democratic election...this is what the Sunni's are fighting against. The Sunni's are the "insurgents" responsible for the numerous bombings of our fighting men and women that you hear about so often, they and Al Qaida.

Its unfortunate but the old saying the few ruin it for the majority, is true. Also, I would have a lot more respect if the good ones would speak out against those who pervert Islam. Even in this country. But the silence, overall, is deafening. I know it is scary and difficult to speak out but hasn't the world learned anything from the Fascist rise in Germany that lead to WW11? They were a minority that took over the entire country because people and other governments took no action. Now, today, we have the ArabFascists that are essentially trying to do the same thing.

Then he don't have joined the protection rigidity uncomplicated and easy. in fact it is the politicians that make the wars. the protection rigidity in uncomplicated terms takes the orders. and now and returned those orders are grimy. If everybody glided by ability of that toddlers theory, we'd have not any protection rigidity. conflict isn't especially. conflict isn't exciting. And notwithstanding who you refer to, somebody is going to think of it is unjust an unjust conflict. some think of WW1 improve into unjust. some think of WW2 improve into unjust. etc. what's annoying is how often he needed his comrades to observe some thing they themselves are already dealing with. Thats slightly severe and unneeded. maximum persons choose to flee the conflict zone. no longer be reminded of it a week. He sounds slightly off stability to me. in fact even with the undeniable fact that, it is not merely McCain supporters that evaluate muslims terrorists. Democrats and Independents do too. everybody attempting to make it look like its a a million social gathering deal, or that one is inevitably worse than yet another is untrue and unrealistic. 0.5 the Democratic social gathering might desire to think of that yet would not talk it. For obvious motives. merely because of the fact somebody would not act like they're, does no longer mean they are actually not thinking muslims are terrorists. Political association has no longer something to do with it.

Ignorant people generalize. I know several Muslims who left the Middle East precisely because they didn't want to deal with the RADICALS. Some of the ones I know are Sunis, some are Shiites, others are Sufis. None of them are radicals, and none are likely to do anyone any harm. They want to be left to live a peaceful life and want others to do the same.

Only ignorant ill-educated rednecks consider ALL Muslims as terrorists.
The rest of us (the majority) understand the difference between moderation and radicalism.
