If stumbled over 1 billion dollars then I would assume that it wasn't mine and I would turn it in to the police. If I suddenly got 1 billion dollars legally then ... I would probably start my own charity rather than give my money away to others. It's time and time again that you see in the news that people in so-and-such charity have taken the money for them selves, swindled the charity and so on. There are also charities that give away about 10 -20% of what they get to the ones that need it. The other 80-90% goes straight into the pockets of those who run the charity. My main focus would be on abused, raped and otherwise mistreated women and their children. It's a subject close to my heart and I've been involved with such projects in the past. How much I'd put into it is hard to say. I'd make sure that my family is debt free and that our house is renovated. Other than that I don't need much and I'm very happy with my life as it is. I would want to put away money for my children and for the future and I'd like to make sure that my mother is well off.

this one is easy to answer. I am a Shriner, and already donate more than i can really afford in time, money and attention. I would think it would be easier to donate more of all of the above if i was not having to fight for the time and money to do so. Millions means that i would not have to work, which means more time. So, yes, i would really donate, but only to select charities.

To your question, I would donate some money to the American Cancer Society in memory of my aunt and grandmother that passed away to cancer.
Yes, the money looks good but it has its benefits. You are doing something good by donating and you can use it as a tax write off.

Yes, say you came across 50 million, i would defiantly give away at least 10 million. There's no way someone can could come up with things that needed that would cost $50 million.
