Why does rug-burn burn so much?

I mean, really!! I just got rug-burn because my dog bit my arm and dragged me across the living room, and it hurts more than the scratch!!

Anyone else agree with me that rug-burn hurts more than a cut/scrape?

I agree. A scratch is just one small line, but a rug burn covers a larger surface area and affects more nerves.
