Please suggest how many days should I spend in Vegas & how many days do I need for Grand Canyon & what are the must see locations there like Hoover Dam....
Since the visit is planned for Christmas weekend so is there any specific suggests day one may not want to miss in vegas.

5 days is fine in Las Vegas. You can do the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon by helicopter. It takes about 3-5 hour round trip, and gives plenty of time for a landing in the Canyon with champagne. It is fantastic and very relaxing. Please do not miss the Blueman group show at the Venetian, and the chocolate fountain at Ballagio.

I went on my honeymoon to las Vegas and the Grand canyon.
We stayed a week in las Vegas (wasn't enough). There is an endless amount of thing to see and do, besides gambling. We also stayed 3 days in the grand canyon. We should have made it 1. It's beautiful, but it's just a beautiful hole. Unless you really love the outdoors and plan on a huge hike, and probably camping at the bottom of the canyon. I suggest you spend as many days as possible in Vegas. Drive to hoover dam for a few hours and spend a day at the canyon.
Hope you have as good a time as we did.

Sorry dude, but you need to be in Arizona around the FlagStaff area to hike the Grand Canyon. Las Vegas is much too far away.

just take a day trip to the canyon (helicopter or plane, not one of the bus trips...believe me) and spend the rest of the time exploring Vegas. I leave for Vegas tomorrow!

The staff at the Hotel will direct you - I did a trip to the Hualapai Ranch - the lady Bus Driver was very informative along the way . There are lot's of things you didn't know about the grand canyon.

Are you staying on the strip? Are you staying with family/friends? Will you have a car? Are you more an outdoors type than gambling/drinking/shows? Need more info... there are a million things to do here in Vegas - 5 days will go FAST!
