What is the difference between someone who is good at math and a mathematician?

I think somebody who is good at math is already a mathematician. Unlike doctors, there is no licensing for mathematicians and this is a good thing. Mathematics is not a property of some inner circle of people. It is developed by everybody who approaches it

A true mathematician is too engrossed with his own work to be wasting time answering math questions here.

Grigori Perelman, upon proving the Poincare Conjecture in 2003 didn't even want to bother picking up the Fields Prize for his work on it. He was too preoccupied.

mathematician usually the people who are major in Math or got a degree in Math. Many people, such as engineers, are good in math, but they are not mathematician because doing math is not there occupations.
