I only give thumbs down if the answer they give is to a fact question, and their fact is wrong

If it's rude certainly, but often when's it just flies in the face of known facts.

If an answer is rude, or has nothing to do with the question, or is totally wrong (although I try to make sure that I only give thumbs-down for factually wrong answers, not just if I disagree). I personally find it more effective to give thumbs-up to better answers and just ignore the others.

If it is just offensive, rude, and unhelpful to the asker. Lots of people answer questions jokingly and never give a serious answer, even when the asker is truly in need of help. I also sometimes, not always, give a thumbs down when I believe very strongly about something and I do not agree with what another person is saying.

When the answerer is rude, out of line, and or way off base, profanity used, or just blatetly insults the asker. Thats when I would give a thumbs down.

if the answer is rude or disrespectful I give a thumbs down. I think it's dumb how some people give a thumbs down to an answer that they don't agree with... if it was just an opinion question

When someone gives out wrong or dangerous information. I don't give thumbs down to rude or offensive answers because it only gives them the attention they crave.

If an answer is rude, demeaning or otherwise disrespectful to a person or something like that.

When someone's being truly rude to you
When someone is mocking you.
When someone says racial slurs or puts down another persons race.
