Hi,
Is it better to get 5 Bachelors Degrees in different areas and be Jack of All Trades, or to get one PhD Degree and specialize in one area in your lifetime?
Thank you in advance!

Thank you for the answers!
The reason for multiple degrees is I am worried about the outsourcing thing. Many people were studying Computer Programming until some companies found workers overseas who could be paid much less and work just as hard. Companies always tend to reduce costs. I am almost done with my Bachelors in Accounting and hope to go for the certifications. Specializing in one thing would give a deep knowledge of the subject, and learning different things would give a different outlook. How about you guys, what are you studying or hoping to achieve? What would you like to spend your life doing? Thanks!

No one needs five bachelor's degrees. Get one and expand on it as your need for new skills grows, but I can't think of any reason to start from scratch each time. As for the Ph.D., it isn't as rigid as you may think either. I know of many Ph.D.s who have developed far more general knowledge than the degree itself would suggest. However, a Ph.D. isn't necessary in every field either.

How do you plan to use 5 bachelors degrees all at once? Most people just find one job they like and stick with it. If the job you have in mind is very specialized, you don't need 5 BA's to learn what you need to know - one or two PhDs would be enough. 5 BAs would take you about 20 years to get, whereas two PhDs might take the same amount of time.

Get the PhD. You'll never get your career off the ground if you keep jumping around five different fields.
