I keep pretty quiet and don't show how smart I really am until I know the hierarchy and make up of the staff and job - you don't want to look like a smart *** or get the office geek as a stalker.

I usually try to stay positive and ask questions. I would add stories about outside of work to try and get to know my coworkers. I try to be outgoing and fun so that I work in an environment that I enjoy. They hired you for a reason and obviously want you to be working there. So have fun with it and work hard and be positive.
