YES - a pop tart got stuck and wouldn't 'pop up'. Flames shot 2 feet out of the top of it.

I once had bread in the toaster and it got stuck, so when the ejection mechanism went to pop it couldnt. At that time I was clearing up some mess the dog had made. (yuck) and then I though i could smell smoke.

I went into the kitchen and the toaster was bellowing out white smoke, so I disconnected the toaster and put it on the draining board and as I did that, the bread in the toaster caught fire, lucky I had disconnected the toaster and was able to put the fire out.

however smoke damaged the house for more than two hours and days later you could still smell the smoke. I was walking through the house with a fan and all the doors open to try and get the smoke out of the house.

Was lucky it was not worse than that!

no thank goodness , but at work all the toasters were taken off us because people kept burning the toast and set the fire alarms off, and with it been a hospital the fire engines got called out automatically ..... :)

Not the toaster but a piece of bread that had broken off in did and started burning what was in it.

Yes. Just last week. The fire alarm went off, and it's linked to the house alarm so that went off too. It was the most dramatic bit of toast I ever made!

As a matter of fact yes. So now my house is free of flammable toasters.

Since the food was too close to where it cooks, yes, but it wasn't too bad, luckily it was caught early enough, just putting fire to the bread.
