5 months with number 1..stopped because I felt he had the best start I could give him.

2 weeks with number 2....stopped because she was in Special Care Unit and it became impractical.

With all of my children I fed for between 12 and 22 months until they weaned themselves off. With my sixth baby, I am still feeding her at 18 months but only once or twice at night. I am trying to stop her from feeding at all because she wakes up in the middle of the night for it. She is just as happy to go back to sleep with a cuddle from dad, but as soon as i cuddle her she expects to suck for ages, even though i don't think there is hardly any milk there, which then leaves me wide awake for the next 4 hours, and then she still needs the cuddle off dad to settle her after feeding. I am pregnant again and if my daughter had been younger I wouldn't have minded continuing feeding both my daughter and the baby at the same time. However because she will be two when the baby arrives, I intend to have her weaned completely off by the time i am 6 months pregnant, so she wont be too jealous.

My daughter is 14 months and going strong! We've had a rough patch in the last few months: first a nursing strike because she was getting 3 teeth at once, then a breast infection, then a long hard battle with thrush (which I think I've won, God help me!).
We are both very happy with nursing and I plan on nursing future babies until they self-wean.

So far we've made it to 36 weeks that's 8 and a bit months. hes been on solids also since he was about 16 weeks hes such a hungry fella. Ill stop when he decides to cos as they tell you breast is best, it also allows you to build a fantastic bond because its only you that can do it. Having spoken to my mam about how long we were all breastfed for (there's 5of us) she said until we all naturally stopped which was about the age of 2 yrs.

Daughter #1: 2 years she self weaned a month before her sister was born
Daughter #2: 3 years, um she was still nursing like a newborn which was taking time away from her sister and I'd had enough of it by then and just wanted my body back.

My first I nursed for 17 months. I was pregnant with #2 at the time, and my milk changed, I suppose, because he weaned himself.

My second I'm still nursing at 8 1/2 months.

With my first- 6 weeks. I stopped becacause my aunt told me that because of her size, it was impossible for me to be making enough milk. She went to nursing school and I was an 18 year old new mom who wasn't bright enough to know that she's a fool. She had her son on whole milk at 2 weeks old because he was "so big"- I should have known not to listen to her.
With my son- he's 14 months and still going strong. We'll be child led weaning.
Too bad I had to live in order to learn :-(

My first only made it 7 weeks, and was supplemented with formula the entire time. Gotta love all of the misinformation that one gets.

My second will be 1 on the 23rd of this month, and still going strong!

Currently 1 year, 1 month, 1 week and 3 days - and no end in sight. I'm going to let my son decide when he no longer needs to breastfeed.

I breastfed exclusively for three months and then I took a month to gradually wean him onto bottles. I did it because he was feeding every two hours and he would have me up two or three times a night. I was exhausted! Also I wanted to be able to leave him to go out, even if it was just to town shopping for a couple of hours. He wouldn't take a bottle though so it took a few weeks of persevering, but we got there in the end! He was much happier and so was I!

Baby #1 - 18 months, self-weened
Baby #2 - 20 months, self-weened
Baby #3 - 2 years, suffered with thrush for most of those two years (had it at least every month!) and couldn't stand it any more and she showed no signs of self-weening!
