Verbally, I see arguing as similar to debating while fighting is where you're trying to hurt the persons feelings by making insults.
Physically, fighting implies hitting and kicking while there is no physical contact in an argument.

Arguing is when people do not agree on the topic, yet can discuss the difference in opinion. Fighting is when people do not agree on the topic, think that their opinion is right and are not open to different opinions.

Arguing is a difference of opinion or perspective. Minds can change if the opposing argument is stronger in fact. And Both minds can change towards a reasonable compromise.
Fighting is a difference of personal "fact." Minds cannot be changed because, "I'm right and you're wrong."

Arguing is a dialog absent of shouting. Fighting gets people up in arms and to the point of them saying things they will regret later.

I'd say arguing is verbal and fighting is physical.

I would think arguing would fall more under the term, debating one's point.
Fighting if verbal, becomes unconstructive emotions that are out of control.
