Oh definitely yes! I had over 70 stitches with my vaginal delivery. Unlike what others are saying, I felt every last prick! It hurt like the devil for over a week too! My baby was way bigger than expected though, 9lbs 9oz and had a head that never did fit into baby sized caps. I think that was a large part of it. I also didn't have an episiotomy, since those often cause worse problems than allowing your body to tear along natural weak points.

I agree with betrayed and insane, stitches are required only when they cut your vagina, so that your baby doesn't have any problem to come out of it. Doctors do this stitching part for the women benefits as if the vagina is not tight, your sex life will get screwed big time. So, to make your look vagina younger even after you deliver a baby, tightening of vagina is a requirement. I had scissarian but my sister had normal delivery and i know that doctors did this treatment on her.
Hope it helps.

In a completly normal delivery no.But if you are having an epsiotomy then yes. An epsiotomy is where they cut you between your vagina and your anus so that you do not tear your perineum Depending on how bad the doctor thinks you are going to tear this can be anywhere from 3-5 stitches. Good luck

Sometimes the baby is big and mommy's not so yes... sometimes stitches are involved in a vaginal delivery. You can tear or the doctor can make a small cut (called episiotomy) to help make room for the baby to come out. Then they stitch you up and you'll be sore and irritated down there for a few weeks until you're all healed.

Generally not required. In most of the case, the doctors make some incision for easy delivery and in such case, a couple of stitches will be required. They also put stitches to make the vaginal entrance narrow post delivery.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but yes. It's possible that after a normal delivery where the vagina got teared, to have it stitched up. But don't worry, after delivery that area is already numb and sore, that you won't feel a thing.

No, not in a regular birth. But if the hole is not big enough for the baby to pass thru, the doc can make an incision to widen the hole, called an episiotomy, and they will stitch that incision back up. No biggie.

usually it does..when th ebaby is too large and the opening is not enough the doctors have to do episiotomy to avoid causing distress to the baby..and after delivery that episiotomy will be stitch back or the so called episiorraphy.. however the area to be stitch is very much different with that of the cesarian section.

No I do not think that is normal. I had an episitomy done with my daughter and they healed up fairly quickly (actually they dissolved). I would first ask your doctor how common is it for the stitches to open and if he says not common, pursue on with some type of lawsuit.
