I also did not know he finished first in his class with an English degree from Brigham Young University, and in the top 5 percent at Harvard Law School. I didn't know he was once declared dead by police after a crash in France caused by a (probably) drunk priest.

I didn't know he refused to take a salary from the 2002 Winter Olympics until he turned the money-losing, corrupt organization into a success.

Honest, hardworking, smart. We need this guy, I think I may have found MY candidate.

I'm with you on this one I like him too and think he is very honest and sincere and cares about what is good for the country. And to the answer that yourway 6 has given.... Of course he wants to support the people who pay us.. If the people who pay us aren't given any breaks why would they stay here and keep us working and not go to other countries where the labor is cheaper and taxes and everything else? I want the company I work for to make TONS of money so they have an incentive to stay in business and keep giving me a paycheck. Thank God for free enterprise and entrepreneurs and the freedom we have to be one. That is what has made this country so great and to bad mouth someone because they have done that and suceeded in their endeavors seems like plain old jealousy to me.

The man is obscenely wealthy. His not taking the pittance salary (when compared to his personal wealth) does not make him honest, particularly compared to his denials about using illegal immigrants for household labor (even as it continued to go on), and being a "lifelong" hunter when he hunted once as a child, then once just before making that claim.

While I don't doubt that he's hardworking, I'm not sure that anything you wrote shows evidence of that, and I'm not sure how being hit by a drunk driver qualifies you for anything, at all, other than as evidence that France's so-called "socialized medicine" seemed to work okay for him.

Being smart should be a minimal requirement. I realize that the raft of Republican candidates, like Reagan, W Bush and Thompson (Tommy or Fred), who seem dim, or the screamingly ignorant, like Tancredo might make one think that a functioning brain is a bonus, but, honestly, someone should be on the upper side of that particular bell curve to take this job.

Sorry, no. It comes back to the Mormon thing. Mormons are great people with terrific family values, but ever since they started to be Christian they turned a lot of people off. There is nothing wrong with being Mormon or Jewish or Jehovah's Witness or Orthodox-Catholic or Muslim. Just be proud of what you are.

I bet you didn't know that he believes that the tribes of Israel came to America, fought battles and built cities here?

I bet you didn't know that he believes that God will establish his heaven just east of Kansas City?

Yeah, REAL smart if you think being ignorant of history, biology and archeology is "real smart", and if you want a Mullah as president.
