Guilty secrets. Maybe we hurt someone or stole some money and never got caught. We never get away with anything though as our conscience won't let us rest. That is why confession of sin before God to a Priest/Minister/Vicar is absolutely necessary. We need forgiveness which is the reason Jesus Christ came to Earth that we might turn to Him and have victory over sin.

It can be something that either you or a relative has done, that would be frowned upon by today's society. Say your Great Great Grandfather was a horse thief, and hung for his crime. This is something that would be referred to as a "skeleton in your closet."

I now know that I was my wife's skeleton in her cupboard. She was a student of psychology and she believed she could cure me of what was ailing me if we got married. Ten years and a couple of kids later she dumped me because she couldn't cure me. I was quite hurt over that but not any more, I finally cured myself.

it's normally from the past , hence the term skeleton..
everyone has at least one.. regardless how trivial it is..
