I have an 1878 Morgan dollar but the one that is worth the most is a 1995 Walking Liberty from the U.S. Mint that was minted at West Point and according to CoinWorld the last time I checked it was worth $4,000.

I told you before that I collect dollar coins and fifty-cent pieces-just because-they are not catalogued or anything-just thrown into a jar. None are particularly old and they are probably only worth face value. I would love to collect really old coins like Roman or Greek. That would fascinate me.

Wally... how good to see you! What a nice surprise! Yes, big coin collection, all American coins straight from the Mint. Everyone in cute little cases... I just love containers! The silver dollars are of course my favorites... I had one put one in a belt buckle a few years back, my buckle don't ya know!

I hope the move went well... we were all waiting for you!

I used to avidly collect USA coins, filling the coin books, getting bags of pennies, dimes, etc.. but gave it up because it seemed that every new or valuable find was made by some fresh faced kid just starting out in collecting. My last straw came when the person in front of me at a newsstand received a 1917 obverse half-dollar in his change for a 25 cent newspaper.

I have started to save the new Presidential dollar series but in new $25 d9llar rolls. I'll let my heirs fight over them. LOL LOL

Lots of them..my hubby was demo-ing a house and found 30 coind in a hole in the wall. Many from the 1800's but none in excellent condition. Also his birth Mom sends him coins from the mint. We do have one double die but to be specific I'd have to get them out of the hiding spot and I'm too lazy for that this morning or hung over from meds for relaxing the ole muscles for fibro relief. Dang, I gotta quit that!

I do collect coins, but for my Son-in-law who lives in the USA.He has a wonderful collection of coins dating back to the 1870s, and he also collects old papers and documents, of which some of them are very old. My Daughter said if anything happens to him she will go round the World Cruising with all the proceeds from this collection. She calls it clutter...but I do not know about that...!!

I put my coins in a jar and put them in a baggy and take to my little grandson for his piggy bank. Saved coins for years to find out I always paid more than they were ever worth, same with stamps, even the gold first day of issue ones. Better off to hunt for an antique.

I have a silver dollar minted in 1892, the year my father was born. That's a special coin to me.
