I've always wanted to try it, but to be honest I wouldn't know where or how to start eating it.

Any advice?

I love lobster and I'm from Maine
How to Eat a Lobster

You will need nutcrackers (or pliers), a small fork, nut pick, lobster bib and plenty of towels. Sometimes, the shell of a large lobster before molting may be so hard that you'll need a hammer to crack it, while after molting, the lobster's soft-shell is pliable and can be easily torn apart with a nutcracker.

Remove the large claws with a twist and crack open the shells. Holding the lobster in one hand, grab the tail with your other hand and bend the tail until it breaks free. Crack the tail at the end and use the small fork to push the meet out the large end. The meat from the cracked claws can also be pushed out with the fork or nut pick. The small legs can be removed with a twist and the meat removed either with the nut pick or simply squeezed out with one's teeth.

Use a knife to slice through the soft-shell on the underside of the lobster so the meat contained between the cartilages can be easily removed. Place the body with the shell facing up and pull on both sides of the cavity at the same time. The upper shell will break off, leaving you with the tenderest meat in the lobster's body. The nut pick can be used to remove this meat.

The green substance contained within the cavity is the lobster's liver (tomalley) and it is often enjoyed dipped into butter and spread on a cracker. The red roe (female lobster's eggs) are also edible.

The stomach sac found in the head behind the eyes, as well as the gills above the cartilage should be discarded.

A boiled lobster should be allowed to drain before serving. Pierce the underside of the lobster at the chest cavity or twist the tail from the body.

Lobster meat is delicious dipped into drawn butter. Some people enjoy it with just a squeeze of lemon. Fresh steamed or boiled New England lobster should never be overpowered with other ingredients. It is best served simply.

Oh yes, Father; real lobster fans over here.

You'll need a disposable plastic bib with the picture of a lobster on it,
and what looks like a nut cracker to crack the shell and get into the succulent lobster 'meat'. You will have lemon butter to dip the lobster in.

If that sounds like too much trouble, you could always try lobster tails first. They aren't as messy, and don't require the bib and nutcracker. Happy eating...lobster's the bomb.

MM yes I love lobster the easiest way to do it is, if they are fresh you drop them into a big pan of boiling water and cook them and then you take them out. Remove the tail and cut down the center and pull the tail out. Dip it in melted butter with lemon and then you can pick away at the rest of it like you do crab! The best person to answer this for you though is Wolfkiss she lives in Maine and the best Lobster comes from Maine!

Lobster is delicious, Try going to Red Lobster sometimes if you are in the USA. Some restuarants serve it without the shell. Ask the waiter for advice.

Lobster tastes quite fishy and has a strange after taste...thats my opinion anyway, if you eat it at a restaurant they serve it for you so you havent got to mess with the shell.
Saying that, everytime I see Lobster on the Menu I always imagine the poor thing getting boiled to death and squeeling, although I know thats not generally how its done anymore but I can never get it out of my thoughts...
Its well worth a try though, you may really like it.

Merry Christmas

Lobster is delicious, people who don't like it are just fussy eaters. I know taste is supposed to be about personal opinion, buta lot of fussy eaters I have met try something once and then decide they don't like it. For years I hated tomatoes, now I love them, you just have to get used to it.
It's really succulent and full of flavour. I would suggest trying it at a seafood restaurant, where you can use all the crackers and mini forks and stuff, it's good food and good fun!
It's delicious with a spinach salad too.

Also, everyone loves the ROCK LOBSTER!

I adore lobster, first time I had it was on a catamaran anchored off Pilar Beach in Cuba, it was already chopped up and you just took a big portion for yourself, second time I ate it was in Cairns this year, we were given little tools to dig bits out of it but its far easier to just break the lobster in half and dig about with your fingers.

Yes, I like it.

When you order lobster, the restaurant will most likely provide you with special breaking utensils. It's very messy but you have to play around with it. Actually, I was never able to break it apart, I always had to get my husband to break the lobster shells for me lol.
