...yeah, 'emotionally' is definitely the key word, here; ever since being adapted by the church (...if I recall author Victor Hugo's original novel, correctly), as a child, Quasimodo yearned ever so much for acceptance, despite his ugly appearance, yet never experienced any sense of acceptance, not any sort of public appreciation for the duties he was responsible for (...as far as his bell ringing, which also stutted his overall development, since the arduous task was the cause for his total deafness, at an early age).

he was definitly not mentally.emotionaly maybe but he coped with it just fine.he was a friendly and outgoing person to thse who knew him and to those who were not afraid of his appearance.
