My guy and I have been together for almost 4 years...man of my dreams, couldn't ask for a more "in-tune" relationship. He's been married once and I've been married twice.(young, stupid, blind, did it for all the wrong reasons, didn't take it seriously, not satisfied.)

For that reason, we were just thinking of having a committment ceremony. Just to exchange our love without the "man's" permission. Screw that marriage crap, ya know?? But now we're both wondering if maybe marriage isn't crap.

What is your opinion on being committed compared to getting married and being legal?

Don't pass go, don't collect 200 :o) go and get married right now,
Go ! Go ! Go ! Go ! What are you waiting for ? Go ! Go ! Go ! Go !
If the both of you love each other whats the hitch in tying the knot ?
Or do you have any suspicions about your relationship ? If none there is no reason why you should not get married.
Stop looking for lame excuses go and get married.
Wishing you the very best my friend.
Best of luck for the future and blessings unlimited.

Take care and God bles the both of you and your loved ones.

Well first of all, to me, marriage is not about the law at all. It's about a beautiful sacrament & blessing being recognized by God. I truly believe that. I think marriage is not to be taken lightly. However, the other side is the legal aspect. Maybe look into being legally in charge of eachother's affairs/estates. Maybe go consult with an attorney & have some Power of Attorney papers drawn up so that if anything happened to one of you, the other could legally take care of it. I have seen people committed to eachother go thru problems when someone gets seriously ill or injured, the hospital wouldn't even deal with them, b/c they weren't "legally united".

I think its ok to feel like you wanna be married, if youve been together this long and you both really love each other then marriage is good, the only time marriage is bad is when people do it for the wrong reasons but it can be wonderful to do it for the right reasons, good luck and remember to follow your heart, it will allways lead you right

i think if you are getting commited instead of getting married, it shows that you don't entirely trust your partner on not leaving you or you aren't sure that you entirely love your partner in the first place. On the other hand, committing might make you feel more relaxed and not as stressed as getting married would. make a list of the pros and cons of each thing. in the end, its your call. good luck!

For me marriage is the answer.

My sister and her man.....lived together and have a 7 year old daughter when they decided to get married and little or nothing has changed.....Except my sister now hyphenates her name.....

I feel it is a matter of choice.....What works for one couple may not work for another....So, it really is a case of find your own path.....Pray for guidance....see a therapist if needed or talk to your minister...... Together you will find the righ path.....
And I will always keep you in my prayers.
Peace.
