That was Dec25,3BC. When the Magi brought the gifts to a child King Jesus.

That Jesus was born in June, conceived in September.
Does these months contradict with scripture?

Maybe we should rewrite our Christmas stories a little?

Quit. But Christmas is also remembering the way of the Messiah for many Christians. God gave us King Jesus. And the Magi brought gifts to King Jesus on Dec25,3BC. I don't care if heathens had a hay day on Dec.25th also.

megaloua, Christmas trees are suppose to be evergreens. Meaning that they don't die in the winter.

I think that it's very intresting how it turned out that the catholic priesthood of that time came with that date. I think that the scriptures don't mention an exact date.

I think I've heard from more sources that probably Jesus was born around april-may than june, but I don't think there is a way to know that in a precise manner.

It was also intresting about that date (dec 25). I think that for several religions that date was important (since the Egyptians, I think). The church tried to suppress the pagan celebration that the people were doing on dec 25, and the best way they found was to apropiate that date saying that JC was born on that day.

It's also intresting that the aura around most of the cristians saints was also because other pagans beliefs centered on the sun, and putting a saints head over the sun would appropiate that date.

But I think that it doesn't matter in each beliefs if dec 25 was or wasn't the exact date that JC was born. In a way, consumism has stolen the x-mass feeling away, being more important what you get that the love you give to others.

Some say that the historical Jesus was born in April, actually.

I don't recall anything in the Scriptures that actually define the month and year of the birth, apart from the coincidence with the Augustan census.

If you check Steven Jay Gould's gem of a book, "Confronting the Millenium," you'll have a LOT of fun with dates - these and others!

The Christmas stories are mostly just that - stories. They are part of the myth that accumulates around any sustained, significant cultural system (organized religion, secret societies, nation states, etc.). The purpose, and benefit, of the stories is that they elaborate upon a community's shared identity. People need not be Christian to enjoy participation in what really is a benign, and perhaps positive, observance that emphasizes some important values of generosity, compassion, and selflessness. Goodness knows there is little enough of that in ordinary life!

Besides, "Christmas" has roots in pagan celebrations - the early Christians were equal-opportunity adapters of local customs in order to win adherents. Get someone to talk with you some day about the cult of Mithras, or the connection of Mary through the Roman and Greek goddesses with Egypt's Isis.

Lets go back to the original holiday: Winter Solstice

(the original mid-winter celebration was hijacked by early Christians who couldn't compete so they just pretended it was Jesus' birthday and took over the event - for example Christmas trees are a prayer to nature not to God and have nothing to do with Christianity)

Many are confused this time of year due to be raised on traditions. But they should realize some truth about those traditions.

Christmas is not a holiday about Christ, but a Pagan holiday brought over to convert Pagans to Christianity.

Bible is very clear that we are not to bring over traditions from others. For they are not things for us. Remember, we were brought out to get away from such practices.

2Thessalonians 3:6
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Master Yahushua the Messiah, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after the Messiah.

It is also clear about the so called Christmas tree that so many like to decorate and set up.

Jeremiah 10:2-4
Thus saith YHWH, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

Recall the story of Moses getting the tablets?. Those with him while waiting made a holiday unto G_D. But G_D did not make that holiday, in turn He punished those who made it.

Christmas is the same thing. A holiday for G_D that we created and He did not. We should care about this, for we are breaking the laws of G_D.

Christ was born in April. (That is the month that you pay your taxes, not December) If he was born in December, why would they put Him in swaddling clothes which was very thin material, and why would the shepherd's be watching their sheep? They would freeze!! The Roman emperor came up with this pagan holiday.

Christmas is not celebrating Christ's birthday, but is instead pampering your self with gifts. We celebrate Christ's birthday, death, and resurrection every Sunday by taking the Communion, and by going to Church!!!
