The engine probably could use a good tune up, which would restore any lost power. It is more than likely something just as simple as that.

It could be a number of things. If the car turns over but doesn't start then it is definately not a battery or starter. It could be the alternator or a bad fuel pump. My car did the same thing before when I would stop and my fuel pump was bad. I ended up taking it to a dealer and it cost me almost $700 b/c they had to clean out the carbon build up. Typically fuel pumps range from $100-$200 at an auto parts store. I would take it to a reasonable mechanic like Pepboys or something. They typically have coupons online that are like $50 on a repair of $200 or more. My best advise, go get it checked out, see what they say, buy the parts yourself, and use the coupon for the labor.

These Saturns are good for odd stalling problems - like Dave C said, a full tune up is probably all it needs.

Plugs, Wires, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Oil Change, and even a coolant flush.

Could be the power brake diaphragm. Maybe when she's preparing to make a turn, she applies the brake, causing a drop in vacuum. You could check the throttle body and see if it needs cleaning, or maybe put a scanner on it to check MAP/MAF sensor. Throttle position sensor. Torque converter lock-up if it's an automatic trans. I don't what else it could be.

Sound like a probable vacuum leak probably in the egr valve system. When you drive the valve opens and slow down and stop it closes. If it stalls then the valve is probably stuck in the open position.

Well, is your daugher changing in a lower gear because sometimes that can happen if you are too high. Also it depends on the fuel, petrol or desiel. Petrol car are harder work, and have to change gear alot because they cannot cope as well as the desiel. You should go to a garage and have it checked out. That is all I can suggest.
