she didnt ask for anything because she's wealthy and can buy whatever she wants, whenever she wants. buying something for her would just be a waste of money because she might not even like it, and has enough of everything already. donate to a cause and put her name on it and give her the card that says you made a donation in her name.

Since money isnt an issue and she can buy whatever she likes, you will have to think of something sentimental. Something that is only special if someone else buys it for you. How about a friendship bracelet. Or a meaningful book with a special inscription on the inside cover.

Since material things are not practical with the fact she can buy what she wants, simply give her card with an opened slot of time she can pick (agreeable for you) to do something together from dining out to something as easy as eating and shopping. Movie, concert, or whatever includes you with her.

I'm not sure what wealth has to do with it- though admittedly someone who is rich will be hard to shop for.

Recently on one of my forums, a writer has been digging up a lot of recipes for cookies-in-a-jar. What that is is the ingredients for cookies packed in layers in a jar, and with a nice little card of instructions and a bit of pretty lace or ribbon attached. Your friend might enjoy that.

Other people make cruets of flavored vinegars and oils, or small baskets of various pleasant and useful things.

Every looked into oxfam unwrapped. My friends and I did it one year instead of buying each other a Christmas gift. A card will be sent to her with details of the present you bought in their name, and the actual item goes to a family or child in a third world country.

take her on a girl's day out, like go have breakfast a local cafe, hit the mall and a few boutiques, get manis and pedis, lunch downtown, and then maybe dinner and a movie.
my aunt did that for me last year, we had a blast! (:
