I'm writing a paper on the roles of the insane and the ignorant in Shakespeare's Macbeth and Hamlet. my thesis is that even though they tend to be comical they are actually very important. The problem is I can really only think of Hamlet pretending to be crazy....

Lady macbeth's ramblings/ Sleepwalking "out damn spot" showed crazy. Not sure it's funny, more sad.
Otherwise Macbeth himself was insane toward the end. definite God complex.
You might make the case that the gatekeeper in Act IV (?) was ignorant, that is a comical part.

In Hamlet, Ophelia also goes insane. You could contrast (at least in your own mind) her real madness with Hamlet's feigned version. Then in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth cracks under the strain of guilt. Macbeth specifically refers to her as having "a mind diseased." However, neither of these characters is a "bit part," and few readers would consider either of them comical. For those characteristics, try the drunken porter and the servant who gives Macbeth the news that Birnam Wood is coming, and the gravedigger and Osric.

Look at Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. They are at the heart of Hamlet. And the witches are crucial to the Scottish play.

i like your famous guy or woman Trek Holodeck reference, ha ha. i for my area am a woman who might incredibly prefer to be Hamlet, he's my favourite character out of literature because of the fact his emotions experience so genuine. And, it would be outstanding to furnish the "To be or to no longer be" soliloquy. i might additionally prefer to be Henry from Henry V, i like how he starts off as such a insurrection yet finally ends up as a hero. additionally, being Romeo or Juliet may be relaxing (nicely, you recognize, up till the tragic loss of life area), because of the fact they journey such extreme love for the different. Being an exceedingly evil guy or woman like Iago or Aaron (from Titus Andronicus) is additionally thrilling. or to be in a comedy like the Taming of the Shrew or A Midsummer evening's Dream may be relaxing! it is so complicated to make your ideas up on, the characters of Shakespeare may be so dynamic.
