If you are going on a steep downhill as fast as you can, then you probably will be able to outrun a mountain bear on a bike, but I am not positive. That is the only case where you really are likely to is on some downhill, if not that, then not at all. I wouldn't test it out though really if I were you.

On a flat open area, YES a bicycle can do well over 30mph. Although bears have been clocked at 35, it's for short distance only.
In the woods, I'd put my money on the bear.

The good news, you don't have to outrun the bear, you just have to outrun the slowest person in the group!

Yes. The bear would take a day trying to figure out how to get on the bike.

Doomdauk has the right idea, mountain bears can't ride bikes.

Easily, but depends on three key factors:

1. the terrain
2. whether the bear is - or is not - asleep
3. the power of the engine on the bike!!

I don't think your average person could (like me, lol) but if you are very physically fit and ride bikes all the time and used to long distance then sure I would think that kind of person could.

probably not, especially in the mountains where the bear would be totally at home and in his element.
