I'm kind of late in answering this question but being from the NY/NJ/PA area, there is no better place to get a great breakfast at any time of the day or night than the DINER. IHOP, Shoney's, Golden Corral, Denny's are OK in other parts of the USA but go DINER in the Northeast.

Both IHOP and Lenny's are good for breakfasts. Like raspberry pancakes and the Grand Slams at Lenny's(I call it that after the old commercials). When I was younger tho' we used to go to a place called Big Enough. It was owned and operated by a retired veteran who raised his own chickens for eggs. You could get 3 eggs any way you wanted 4 slices of toast, hash browns, fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee for about $3. I was really sorry when it closed due to a huge sinkhole that swallowed part of the street and almost all of the converted house that made up the place.

It's a tossup between IHOP and Shoney's (aka Big Boy). The difference is, at IHOP you order full meals, and at Shoney's, you can eat from the breakfast bar. Bringing up the rear is Denny's, which has that wonderful "Grand Slam," two eggs, two sausages, two bacons, two pancakes.

The goodies at Shoney's breakfast bar include scrambled eggs, either plain or with onion and sausage. There's also corned beef hash, bacon, sausage, pancakes, syrup, melted butter, corn muffins, fresh fruits, cold cereal, sausage gravy. That doesn't cover them all, but it's a start.

I've always enjoyed Dennys but it's been ions since I went out for breakfast. I learned some tricks of the trade and do as well at home. Except for their potato soup. I love it and haven't found anything close to it yet.

IHop or Shoneys. I have to drive about an hour to get to the nearest IHop. If I had one closer I would be as big as a barn. I love that cream cheese filled french toast with strawberries on top!!

It's a tie between IHop and Denny's for me, too. Too bad neither of them are very close to us.

Last time we went, IHop was closed because they were having a water problem, and Denny's was crowded with a huge waiting line. We ended up coming back home to eat.

Both Denny's and Bob Evans. They are within a few miles.

eggs benedict. Yum!

I'm not that fond of IHOP and think Denny's is better, but for reasons left unsaid, I don't go to Denny's - I like Great American ....their buffets are great!

On the road I like Cracker Barrel!
