How do I set up my d-link wireless adapter in my computer to connect to the ei-fi router of the main computer?

I go to the network connections folder and all I see is a Local Area Network icon, no wireless connection icon. Help! I have installed the driver to my adpater as well already. I'm totally lost.

I'm using XP Pro. I have the adapter installed along with the driver.

Your wireless adapter may be all well and good.
If you do not have a Wireless Router to get the signal from the computer to the router then the adapter does you no good at all.
So you must have both a wireless Router and a wireless Adapter to get a wireless signal, and connection
