It's not against the community guidelines to vote for your own answers, and I think it's fair to be able to vote for your own answers as long as everybody is afforded the same opportunity (that doesn't include level 1's). Whether or not a person takes advantage of that ability is up to them.
It IS against the community guidelines to vote for your own answers multiple times by using multiple accounts, and for good reason, although I see people who give really bad answers, but mysteriously end up with 7+ votes versus the other answerers who have one or two.
Dukalink6000 was in a dead-heat with Judas Rabbi for the #1 spot and had his account deleted for having his cousin vote for his answers, although he denys it.

I didn't know you could vote for your own answer, and no I do not think it's cheating if you really think your answer is the best.

as quickly as a question is going to balloting, you may actual vote to your person answer. And no, it is not cheating in any respect! often circumstances your answer might desire to be the only one and if the asker did no longer complication to % a BA, why shouldn't you vote to your answer in case you realize that's right?

I personally don't vote anymore, because it is the first answer that wins 99% of the time. However, according to the YAT, it is not cheating to vote for your own answer, as long as you do not use multiple accounts to do so.

Not really, the person who asked the question chose not to pick a best answer so why shouldn't I? Obviously I'm going to think that my answer is the best.
