The state of healthcare in the United States is appalling. Only Moore has the guts to say it while everyone else is cowering under their beds at the political clout and power of the drug industry (and the gun lobby and the pro-Bush lobby).
How many people here saying Moore is a lier has ever seen one of his movies all the way through - anybody? I didn't think so.

You are a very weird person, but you offer up some good points. Fact is, MM plays fast and loose with facts. In the making of his movie, Moore took his cameras to Cuba but, alas, failed to mention that, according to The World Health Organization, the health system in the USA is better than in Fidel's socialist paradise. I'm sure Moore's oversight was accidental. The same pattern repeats itself in his other movies. Since the American public usually accepts what it sees without questioning it, perceptions easily become the new reality...and don't let the facts get in the way of a good story!

Besides Moore's movie, Sicko, there are many reliable sources of information on the Internet about national health care. If you care to study the matter in depth, I offer these sites to help you in your search for the truth, instead of propaganda put out by insurance and drug lobbies that have a vested interest in making sure the US never gets national care:
www.amsa.org/uhc
http://www.balancedpolitics.org/universal_health_care.htm
http://www.pnhpwesternwashington.org/classics.htm
There are many more which strive to dispel the myths put out by interested parties. Learn the truth.

Yea I have watched more than one. I havent seen sicko, but have seen roger and me and fahrenheit 9/11. Moore has a bad habit of representing what people say out of context by only showing part of what they say or showing it edited in a manner which shows his point, which often isnt the persons point of view who said it.
He also conveniently will quote statistics that support his point, but other statistics that are contrary to his point of view he will leave out. he shows a one sided world that will sell his movie. Thats pretty much it.
And Moore is far from the only one, and certainly not the first one, to say healthcare in the USA is in poor shape.

Moore is not completely honest in his movie. Yes, I watched it all. He does bring out some very good points, and if he would stick to the truth people would not be able to deflect his very valid points by merely pointing out his lies.
Health insurance is too expensive for many working people. As more manufacturing jobs leave the US and people take lower paying jobs we are headed for problems.

I understand that he thinks what the US needs is a version of the UK's NHS or the Cuban health system.
The NHS in Britain is a national scandal. the UK is still a good place to break your leg, but if you are old or have a chronic persistent condition you are in trouble.
However bad the NHS is getting, you can still rely on one thing - you will not get contaminated with anything from Cuba. This is because you are NOT ALLOWED to donate blood in the UK if you have had any surgical treatment in Cuba.
I once knew a Cuban nurse. She told me she was HIV +ve.

It is in fact, serious propaganda. Try reading some news from Canada, their system is like the one Hillary wants and it is going broke big time.

.good movie and to the point.......... my wife just had a total hysterectomy in Honduras ....... 5 days in Hospital....... Doctors..... everything....... total cost less than 200 bucks.....................
I was just given a quote also in Honduras for cataract
surgery.............. 500 bucks
I had a long discussion with a doctor in Honduras...... trained in USA.......... he said doctors in USA forgot that they became doctors to help people.............. they seem to be more concerned about your insurance coverage......... and their big houses and fancy cars.....
BTW I have excellent health coverage in the USA but choose to have procedures done in Honduras where the doctors are truly concerned about their patients
what would these procedures cost in the states?
