Let the list start...I suppose the worst thing was the battle of Fallujah. I watched my best friend since high school die and I lost 50% of my hearing in my left ear and took shrapnel in my arm and leg. I overcame it by remembering the movie "Castaway" and repeating Tom Hanks' line "I gotta keep breathing" and so I did. Although the after effects of war keep me awake at night, there is no question that occasionally pop culture can do some good in life and serve some purpose. American culture ain't half bad. Music has also helped my long road to recovery. It 's what ever you can relate to that can really help overcome obstacles.

high school was death. i was popular and school was good but then i slept with the most popular girls bf at a party, while i also had a boyfriend... so then i lost my bf obv. and i lost pretty much all my friends including my best friend. and the friends i did have really only talked to me if they weren't around other people. the worst part was walking down the halls just knowing how badly i was getting judged and what people were saying about me...
i over came this by joining a lot of clubs so that i had meetings every day at lunch and i didn't have to deal with going to lunch alone since i didn't really have friends.. also i just focused on school work since i didn't really have anything else to do which allowed me to get grades i ddin't know i could and get into a good university.
i can't say i've totally over come the obstacles though because i'm always going to remember how painful high school was and now i have a really hard time making friends i've just kind of become an introvert.
oh and there is also still the obstacle of my new boyfriend rubbing it in my face when ever he gets the chance about my past.. he says hes just reminding me so i don't do it again but it still hurts a lot.

I think my worst was when I found out my grandson was on drugs. We over came these obstacles by getting help and he has been drug free for a year. On day at a time.

Being born and dying - I was once pronounced 'dead' by a doctor.
I don't recall being born, but I had to have been spanked by the doctor.
Neither experience needed to be 'overcome,' that's life.

I'm experiencing them every day for 15 years or more... a cheating, lying father, that CONTINUES to swear he's stopped cheating on my mom, and then I continue to catch him red-handed! It sucks being lied to, betrayed, and especially LEAD ON by my father, who is a sick pervert!!
