How can I delete all files of a certian type (example .jpg) within a specific folder in windows xp.Ive heard there is a *.* command but i dont know how to use this,and I'm not sure if this is the best way.

Go to find files & folders.. Browse to the folder you want to delete the files from and search for "*.JPG" without quotes.

Then just highlight the first file from top, then hold Shift and press the down button or (page down) button to highlight all files found..

Then simply hit the Del button to delete all of them at once..

The best way is to use the search feature in XP. You have the option to search for all pictures. You can further filter this search by typing *.jpg in the search box. As the files are found you will see where they are located.

You can then sort the results by location, all the ones in the same folder will be together. Highlight the first one in the list, hold down the shift key and arrow down to the last picture you want to delete. Continue to hold the shift key down and hit the delete key. This will delete the files and bypass the recycle bin.
