I'm 14 and I've hated christmas since I was 11

I think I hate it because my mother is Jewish and my father's family is Catholic and they make me celebrate xmas even though I feel Jewish (the wierd thing is that my favorite part or at least the most passable part is midnight mass)...xmas just depresses me

I definately don't hate it because I'm Jewish...I don't really care what other people believe. Eventhough I started totally hating christmas when I was eleven, it hasn't been the same since Santa stopped existing in my head

Perhaps, you need to put "Santa" back into Christmas! I amd 56, and I still make a big thing out of "Santa" so much so that my husband painted me a picture of Santa winking. The picture goes up on the wall every year at Christmas time, Gifts are opened on Christmas Morning, and nothing goes under the tree until everyone is asleep on Christmas Eve! This keeps the magic...sometimes, it is really hard to get the gifts under that tree, because my kids are not small anymore, and when they come home for Christmas, I have people sleeping everywhere, so I must creep around and get the gifts under the tree....no one ever wakes up....I'm really good at it! Even the gifts from Mom and Dad are not placed under the tree until Santa comes! If you like Christmas Mass, go to church and enjoy it...I also like to go to Church on Christmas Eve,and That is the time I relect on my Christian belief as Christ was born as our Savior....but Christmas Day is for Santa! If you feel more Jewish, celebrate Hannukuh if you can.....possibly with some Jewish friends or your mother.....I know people who celebrate both Holidays, for both members of the family....to me this shows love and respect for one another's beliefs and compromise...Celebrate the joy of the season...count your blessings...Two parents who love you, your friends, the fact that you have people in your life to share time with, you have food to eat, live in warmth in the winter and coolness in the summer, music, work....family. You are young, maybe you can discuss this with your parents, and in 6 or 7 years, you can make your own decisions as to how you want to celebrate this season in your life......Until then, do the best you can with what your parents have planned for the season, hope this helps....God Bless!

It is not very normal to hate Christmas at any time in your life but there are things about Christmas that can be stressful , such as buying gifts and visiting relatives , putting up with shopping crowds etc. I have met very few people that actually hate Christmas , even non Christians.

I would try to self analyze what I am feeling and try to sort out what part of Christmas that I do like and concentrate on that. part of the holiday.

What happened? Think of what happened when you were 11 to upset you. Did someone embarrass you or shame you? Maybe that's why. I am not fond of it because we get together with people I am not fond of. How sad is that? If you are Jewish, maybe you hate it because something is not available to you on the 25th that usually is. I remember talking to a Jewish woman at the gym that is open 24-7 and was upset it was closed on the 25th. Now after reading what I just wrote, I will stay home. Thanks!

Not abnormal if you're perceptive.

There's an awful lot that's false about Christmas in many of its aspects, and holding the different Christmas elements together (Commercial/Christian/Family...) in one harmonious whole may be impossible.
Some don't notice the clash, some just leave the bits they don't like at the side of the plate.

But if you notice too much, the cacophony and the inconsistency can get to you.

Christmas is irritating. Yes.

"then see a head doctor .... not normal!"
But believing the words of a 2000 year old script in the Bible is, I suppose.

Don't hate it just because you're of a different religion, though- it's just a national holiday in all of the Western World.

"Christmas has also become a pagan holiday"

...It started of as a pagan holiday. Jesus wasn't born on 25/12.

Well, it does depend on how you celebrate it and what happens around at that time. Regarding what you say, its really normal not to like Xmas...

not sure do you hat the idea of christmas or the fact that its become what you know christmas is. If you were religious i doubt you would hate it but the rest of the world has adopted it as a commercial holiday which is probably why you hate it which is understandable.

When you are of age you can choose whatever religion and whatever celebration you wish....for now, you have to follow your parent's wishes.
