You can burnish it by rubbing with something round and smooth like an old door knob (without the door, ha ha) or you can just peel it off and re-blend it to make the fibers smaller. But your handmade paper will never be smooth like factory paper. That's the charm of handmade. If you want to use it for stationary, you can attach factory paper to one side and write on that. I actually sew mine on but you can use glue, tape or staples depending on the design it will make.

I think your fibres are a little big, making lumpy paper.
You can get it a little flatter if you press it when drying, or when already dry, or by ironing it, but you will not get it perfectly flat.

If you want your next batch to be flatter make sure your fibres are smaller, use an old food processor or blender to cut up the bits.

believe it or not, you can iron paper, stick it in the thinnest pillowcase you can find, and iron the pillowcase on low steem.
