I had a troll doll, too! I loved it. But these are cute little dolls. A troll on here is a person that singles out another user and tries to get them constantly violated or their account deleted. Or a troll will go into a question and just go down the list of answers and give everyone a thumbs down.

An "Internet troll" or "Forum Troll" (not a mythical troll) is a person who posts outrageous messages to bait people to answer. They want people to get angry and love getting everyone riled up on the forums. They purposely provoke and pull people into flaming discussion. Flaming discussions usually end with name calling and a flame war. Next thing you know you are so far off topic the point is lost. Best thing to do when you encounter a troll is ignore them and not answer at all. If they can't get people enraged they will move on.

that would be a troll doll you are talking about that would sit upon someone's desk durning the 80's and 90's. The trolls on here mean someone that will report you for either the type of question you asked or type of answer you have giving. It if offends someone or goes against the answer guidelines. Anyone can be a troll on here, no one know for sure who they are, so watch how you post and answer questions to avoid them.

A Troll is somebody who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. (We've got a few of them on Yahoo Answers!).

on 'answers', trolling is a term used when someone posts a question and is 'fishing' for a particular response, or 'setting you up', not sincerely wanting an answer for the question.
