I think poverty and war create each other .. what can the individual do to force their governments to think long and hard about equality and the way forward?

Who would you vote for and what proposals would you like them to see push forward that would make other world leaders rethink their startegies?

civil conflict is usually as a result of the struggle to be heard, treated fairly ..POVERTY. Natives against natives. When it all gets out of hand, outside powers try to sort out the mess... WAR.

No one wants war, where vast numbers of innocents are wiped out yet the perpetrators still carry on their original acts of violence and greed in an attempt to rule by fear.

Bubba seems to be thinking on the right lines though I fail to understand why none of the answers yet believe poverty can create war. Maybe they just dont care unless they are poverty stricken themselves. As long as life is fair to them then why should they make any effort to change things. I say, someone voted in the warmongers, yet the ones who could have made the difference by voting just sit back and "armchair rule".

arrest the journalists and let the citizens decide whether they are satisfied instead of being told whether they are or not.

Poverty has NEVER been the cause of war. Fear of repercussions is the only thing that halts a dictator or a hate monger.

The hippie movement was a failure because they did not recognize that there are inherently evil people and that anarchy leads to chaos.

The last person I would ever vote for would be the person that believes the peace and love tenant because they are proven failures.

First thing is to get ride of Bush and his team in November 08. An indivdual can not force ,but can vote. Take a look at the dollar ,since the Republicans got in it has lost value by leeps and bounds.Look at Iraq a mess. What ever he touches does not turn to gold, but ****.
As for the world leaders to rethink their startegies.Pray!!!!

Saying that poverty and war create each other is stretching the imagination a bit.

If you don't like something, then the only thing you can do is try to effect that something.

Voting is a good media to effect change.

Writing letter to your Congress person actually helps, they hate it when someone writes and asks questions.

Well, for starters I think you should find a poor person and give all your $$$ to helping him/her. Wait a second.......that's socialism! Sorry...that won't work. Then you'll be poor.

War, and any other evil is started by one simple word....SIN! And it all starts with "I."
