Video Streaming Script?

I have some avi files in the directory of my dedicated linux server. Would it be possible for me to watch these files and the server stream them to me using some sort of script available rather than me having to download them to my computer from the server?

This isn't something that can be done with a simple script, unfortunately - your server has to be set up with the correct software.

It might be worth asking your hosting company if they provide something like this. The one I'm with, Dreamhost, do offer a service where they recode your video as Flash (as used in YouTube) and stream it out.
